Licensing Issues / Permissions
I produce a weekly e-newsletter for our church. We have about 700 subscribers. The idea of using cartoons really appeals to me but I'm a little unclear about usage. Free is great but I'm more than willing to subscribe to help support your industry. My father was a cartoonist that drew "Oh Brother", a weekly cartoon that appeared in about 100 or so Catholic newspapers back in the 70's.
Anyone have any input on what can be lifted for non-commercial use or methods of subscription, rates?
blessings,
Mark

Mark, I think every cartoonist probably has their own policy for allowing others to publish their cartoons. Speaking for myself and Joyful 'toons, I make them available to chuches and Christian groups to use for free. They may download the jpgs from my website (www.joyfultoons.com). I do request they abide by my rules of use, which I pretty much copied from christiancartoons.com's cartoon use policy. And I appreciate them sending me an email telling me who they are and how they are using the cartoons.

Mine are basically available for free as well. Please visit the Church Mice website and click on "terms of use."
